EMMA, Our AI Telephone Receptionist!

We understand that our phone queue can be very long in the mornings, which means it can take some time for patients to get through to us. This can be particularly difficult for people who are unable to come into the surgery or who cannot use online services.

Our new system, EMMA, can answer multiple calls at the same time, which greatly reduces – and in many cases removes – the call queue. This allows us to receive your information more quickly so that the team can review it and respond appropriately.

By doing this, we aim to make access fairer for patients who need to contact us by phone. EMMA is not a replacement for our staff, but a tool to help us manage demand more efficiently and allow more time for those with complex needs.

When you call:

  1. EMMA collects your details.
  2. The practice reviews your submission.
  3. The practice will respond to your request, which may be issuing a prescription, providing test results, or offering an appointment.

EMMA is available at varying times as part of our trial, helping to reduce waiting and ensure you’re directed to the right care quickly.
